“Eating for Healthy Bones”—Public Invited to Free Nutrition Seminars in May
Cancer Care Centers of South Texas is presenting free nutrition seminars to provide information on “Eating for Healthy Bones.” The seminars are open to the public free of charge. Barbra Swanson, N.D., R.D., L.D., and registered dietitian for Cancer Care Centers of South Texas (CCCST), will discuss the prevalence of osteoporosisin the American culture and its causes and management. She will show how lifestyle modifications, including nutritional changes, can positively influence female bone health. The presentation will focus on calcium-rich foods and vitamin D sources. Swanson will prepare a vegetarian, calcium-rich dish for participants to sample and provide the recipe to participants.
